Join us for at the Montreal Games Summit for a series of free Autodesk 3ds Max classes. Topics include character rigging, MAXScript, 3ds Max 8 SDK, and normal mapping.

Day 1: Wednesday, November 2, 2005
Character Animation Techniques (in English)
Many aspects of the character animation process will be cover in this session, from facial animation to body animation, including lips synchronization as well as morph targets automation. Learn how to become more productive and how to easily create better character animation with 3ds Max. This session is for technical directors and character animators interested in learning cutting edge character animation techniques.
What's New in the Autodesk 3ds Max 8 SDK (in English)
This class will start with a brief introduction to the Autodesk 3ds Max SDK: what it is, how it's used, what can be done with it. Then we will cover the major features of the 3ds Max 8 release. Emphasis will be put on areas that may not be covered elsewhere.
MAXScript Insider Tricks (in English)
This class will cover topics from the following areas: best practices for user interface development, particle flow scripting tricks, the power of callbacks, and vector and matrix tricks for everyone.

Techniques d'Animation de Caractère (in French)
Plusieurs aspects du procédé d'animation de caractère seront couverts dans cette séance; de l'animation du visage à l'animation du corps, en passant par la synchronisation des lèvres de même que l'automation du morphe cible. Apprenez à devenir plus productif et créez les meilleures animations de caractère plus facilement avec 3ds Max. Cette séance s'adresse aux directeurs technique et aux animateurs de caractère intéressés par des techniques d'animation de caractère d'avant-garde.
Advanced Character Rigging for Game Cinematics (in English)
This class will teach students how to create detailed character rigs-especially useful for game cinematics. The student will learn to approach rigging in a "layered" manner, develop advanced skeletal structures, embed procedural systems in character rigs, and integrate 3rd-party tools into their rigs if needed. Previous rigging experience is recommended.
Efficient creation pipeline using 3ds Max (in French ONLY)
Ce séminaire présente les bonnes pratiques reliées à la création de niveaux avec 3ds Max. La classe progresse à travers les différentes phases de création, du croquis à la scène prête à exporter dans le moteur de jeux. Les outils et techniques impliquées seront présentées tel que: Edit Poly, Edit spline, extrusion, Normal Mapping, DirectX et le viewport, Pelt mapping. Le cours est bâtit afin de faire découvrir une méthode de travail efficace avec 3ds Max aux artistes de niveaux ainsi qu'aux artistes en général.

Cette classe commencera par une brève introduction au SDK de Autodesk 3ds Max: qu'est-ce que c'est, comment est-ce utilisé, ce qui peut être fait avec cela.
